Sócrates

Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira was Born with the name “Brasileiro” in his name and dead loving his country.  Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira, MD (19 February 1954 – 4 December 2011) was a Brazilian footballer. He was also a qualified doctor graduated in USP- Ribeirão Preto. He captained the Brazil national team in the 1982 World Cup, called for all the fans of fottbal which the magic nacional team. Socrates, Zico, Falcao and Cerezo  composed Brazil’s wonderful 1982 midfield, He was the elder brother of Raí, who was a member of Brazil's World Cup winning squad in 1994. The fans of São Paulo love Raí. Sócrates  played for Botafogo-SP, before joining Corinthians in 1978. He spent six years with the club, scoring 172 goals in 297 league games. He then moved to Italy to play for Fiorentina, before returning to Brazil to end his career with Flamengo and Santos. He is best remembered outside of his homeland for the sixty caps he won playing internationally for Brazil; he captained his country at the 1982 FIFA World Cup, and also appeared at the 1986 World Cup, the 1979 Copa América, and the 1983 Copa América – appearing in the defeat to Uruguay in the 1983 finals. He was named South American Footballer of the Year in 1983, and was named on Pelé's FIFA 100 list in 2004.                                                                                                                                    His synthesis of intelligence and technical brilliance are nowhere better illustrated than in his mastery of the backheel – a resource which gave him an advantage over more physically gifted opponents. But, more than a simple football player, the Doctor, nickname of fans of Corinthians called Socrates, was a man worried with Brazil. He fights against the  military dictatorship. Socrates had an alternative – change it. He was the leading light in a movement at the club which became known as “Corinthians Democracy”. Players, coaching staff and club employees would vote on all kinds of issues of interest to the collective – from which players to sign, to whether the team bus should stop to allow people to get off and relieve themselves. The Doctor was and is a symbol of freedom and intelligence. One myth from football.  Socrates died in Sao Paulo victim for one sepse. A few hours after Doctor died, Corinthians became champions of Brazil.
